Yesterday however it started popping up a Google login window, asking for my Gmail address and password. When I enter them I get taken to a screen requesting that I allow access to emails and personal info, etc. I click the Allow button but a few seconds later I get a Send/Receive error window telling me that Outlook cannot connect to the Gmail server, the Google login page pops up again, and process repeats ad infinitum. I tried removing and re-adding my Gmail account from Outlook. This took over an hour to synchronise, and finally retrieved my inbox, but has not re-created my folders. I am still frequently getting the send/receive errors and Gmail login window popping up. The headset works on another Windows 10 computer with Skype Business Web without any problems and I can use it on this computer on other websites without any problems.

I tested Skype Business Web using Internet Explorer and Edge, but as it loads an own component, it is probably no difference. I tried all combinations of sound devices in the Skype Business conference settings and it still does not work.

My impression is, that Skype Business decides for some reason, that the headset does not work and then does not even try to use its microphone.
http://andreidionian.com/?id=q/1439748 1 Why is Task Manager's Network Usage off by about 50%? Mario http://andreidionian.com/?id=users/78662 2019-05-22T09:18:01Z 2019-05-22T09:31:58Z
This is an interesting thing I've noticed since my internet upgrade (up to 100MBit/s downstream) and I'm not really sure what exactly is happening here – which boggles me. :) This discrepancy seems to apply to all programs, I'm just using Blizzard's Battle.net app here, since it had to download/update stuff anyway:

All the following screenshots have been made within 2-3 seconds.

First, let's have a look at the application's own estimate:

Note that I'm fully aware that this is an estimate and many programs show the effective data transfer post decompression. As you can see, this would be at around ~60MBit/s, give or take a bit due to compression and shenanigans. Fine.

Now, let's look at Task Manager's "Performance" tab and we'll get a similar picture:

Ignoring the ups and downs, I'd say it's save to assume an average of around 60MBit/s downstream (plus overhead), which would match what's shown in the actual application.

But if I'm now looking at "Processes" tab, the number simply doesn't fit:

As you can clearly see, this shows the process at around 35MBit/s. Just to note, update speed is properly set to "Normal", but going to "Fast" or "Slow" doesn't change this behavior.

While I didn't take a screenshot, Resource Monitor will also report the bigger/twice as big actual values.

I can also use any random speed test site (like SpeedTest.net) and I'll get similar results: "Performance" tab shows the correct amount of transferred data, while "Processes" shows around half of it.

Timing wise, the displayed (bigger) values are actually sane and what's going over the connection. Also we're not talking about slow downs in between, if a download is running and values update constantly, they keep this odd discrepancy.

I suspected MTU settings at first, although lowering them from the default 1,500 to the connection specific 1,378 didn't change anything. And this would also have impacted all values I'd assume.

Also I don't have any extra virtual machines or filters installed/active. The network adapter only has the Windows defaults added/checked. Enabling/disabling the QoS filter doesn't change anything either.

A WiFi card is there (on-board), but turned off (since I've heard Task Manager often using WiFi speed for measurement here).

And just to note: The bandwidth upgrade is realized using a hybrid approach, bridging both a classic landline ADSL connection and a 4G/LTE connection. This introduces additional connection headers, lowering the MTU from 1,492 on the ADSL side to 1,378 for the hybrid connection.
http://andreidionian.com/?id=q/1439734 0 Connect Windows 10 PC to MAC skydev http://andreidionian.com/?id=users/1039583 2019-05-22T08:51:01Z 2019-05-22T08:51:01Z
Ok so I have a bit of a unsure question here so please be kind. However, the 2.4 GHz band continues to work fine.

In one of my Windows 10 machines I tried going into Device Manager -> Network adapters and updating all the drivers, but that didn't change anything.

It isn't because of my location within the house - I've moved the laptops around to various locations and that hasn't fixed anything.

The modem is a Netcomm NF18ACV.

What could cause this to happen? On one computer, OneDrive works just fine. But, on a different one, I can't get logged in to OneDrive.

I can go through the login screen, give it my email and password, then approve the 2-factor authentication. But then it tells me something went wrong (unspecified), but suggests that I go to the task tray and select OneDrive settings and add my account. When I do that (email address, password, 2-factor authentication) I am presented with a new dialog. And yes, my email address is tied to both a personal and a "work/school" account.

The problem is, all of my OneDrive files are attached to my personal account and Personal is grayed out and unclickable (yeah, I tried anyway).

Any ideas on what it takes to get this setup correctly?

Update and clarification

Just to be clear, this used to work on this computer, but at some point stopped. It's a computer that does not get used much and had not even been turned on for a few months.

A comment by Ramhound got me thinking. I went in to Manage my Account and removed the workstation in case it really wasn't correct anymore for some reason, and now I can't get it back as a trusted device. I have tried a couple of things, namely on the workstation transitioning my account to local account, rebooting, then transitioning it back to my Microsoft Account. While I did indeed was asked for a verification code (2-factor), the workstation has never been re-registered as a trusted device. Some threads say to go to Settings/Accounts/Your Info and click the Verify button, but that appears to no longer exist under Windows 10 Pro (Anniv Edition).

At this point, since there isn't much on this computer, I'm getting "this close" to rebuilding it again from scratch, but there should be a better way.

And yet another update

I have determined that this problem stems from the fact that I don't use this particular computer very much (it sits in my garage, hooked up to a X-Carve CNC that I don't get to use as much as I would wish). In my consideration of rebuilding this computer, I went to another computer that I retired just a few months ago and booted it back up. When it came up I was told that I had to re-enter my OneDrive credentials (which the first computer did too, in hindsight), and now this second computer can no longer get to my OneDrive with the exact same message.

I decided to rebuild this garage computer on the other hardware and, of course, OneDrive works again. I then renamed the "broken" computer so the new computer could take its name, and when I did, My Account recognized this computer again, with the new name, as a trusted device. So hoping that was the fix, I tried OneDrive one more time, and still no love, it will not connect correctly.
http://andreidionian.com/?id=q/1438199 1 Wired and Wireless connection on Windows 10 ColinCren http://andreidionian.com/?id=users/1037775 2019-05-17T19:34:10Z 2019-05-21T23:40:12Z
When LAN is connected, Wifi is not operational. This causes me to not have internet in my particular case.

I've got a linux device that I connect to via ethernet. This requires a static IP on the same subnet. The device does not provide internet. I do not intend to ever connect to the internet over LAN with this computer.

This used to work fine under windows 7, but now doesn't work at Windows 10.

I know there are multiple other questions similar to this, but I haven't been helped by them.

Here is what I've tried:

I've checked my BIOS. This is an HP laptop, and they do have a bios setting to switch off wlan when lan makes a connection as a power setting. This is off.

Turned off in the wifi adapter configuration the option to allow the OS to turn off the adapter to save power.

Under the Wifi ip4 Advanced settings, setting a metric lower than the LAN adapter. (the most common suggestion)

Under Group Settings for the computer, disabled the "Minimize the number of simultaneous connections" policy.

I've tried making sure the LAN ip4 settings do not set a default gateway.

Looked for another setting under ip4 configuration regarding disabled when LAN is connected. This doesn't exist for me.

Under Network Properties, it displays that the wifi is "Not Operational" but appears to still have a connection.

I'm hoping there is some other setting I'm missing regarding wifi being disabled when LAN is connected because that seems to be the behavior.

EDIT Adding ipconfig /all output with some stuff hidden by me per requested in comments:

Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : {MyHost} Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : {MyDomain}.com Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Peer-Peer IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No DNS Suffix Search List. . . . . . : {MyDomain}.com Ethernet adapter Ethernet: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (2) I219-LM Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : {Physical Address 1} DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : {MyStaticIP} Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Enabled Wireless LAN adapter Local Area Connection* 1: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : {Physical Address 2} DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Ethernet adapter Bluetooth Network Connection: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network) Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : {Physical Address 3} DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Wireless LAN adapter Wi-Fi: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : {mydomain}.com Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : {Physical Address 4} DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes

http://andreidionian.com/?id=q/946581 57 Option to Turn Bluetooth on or off is Missing DavidB http://andreidionian.com/?id=users/269035 2015-07-28T22:16:08Z 2019-05-21T22:25:51Z
I want to disable Bluetooth on my laptop running Windows 10 Pro x64, but I have a problem: the option to do so is missing even though I know that it was previously available.

Here is the Bluetooth settings pages should look like on Windows 10:

Here is how it looks for me:

As you can see, I am missing the switch to turn it on or off?
