What gives? Mostafa Zeinali http://andreidionian.com/?id=users/482109 2018-01-22T07:37:13Z 2019-02-23T07:58:42Z
I have a computer running Windows 7 that shares a Git repo on drive D. Let's call this PC "
win7
". This repo is the origin of a project that we push to and pull from.

The network is a wireless network. One PC on this network is running on Windows 10. Let's call this PC "
win10
".
Win10
can ping every other PC on the network including
win7
.
Win7
can ping
win10
.
Win7
can access all shared files on
win10
. Neither of the PCs have passwords.

Problem:
Win10
cannot access any shared files on
win7
, not from Explorer, nor from Git Bash or any other Git management system (E-Git on Eclipse or Visual Studio). So,
win10
cannot pull/push. I've completely blocked all web browsing and other such apps on my phone, which greatly improved my life. However since then, my habits have slowly adapted to simply use my laptop.

I've considered doing the same for my laptop that I did for my phone, however I'm pursuing a CS degree and use my laptop for school. I figure I could just rely on school computers, but that would be a pretty large inconvenience considering I live pretty far from the school.

I don't live alone and all of my problems only occur in private and so any method to force me to not use my laptop in private areas, such as in my room or bathroom, would be wonderful. (Also I can rely on another person to password restrict things for me.)

And just so people don't question my proposed method, I do see a counselor and he has told me that I should restrict my access to the internet and approves this method I've suggested. Its just how to accomplish this method with the technology is where I need help.

And I have an ASUS computer with Windows 10.

My Proposed Solution

That was probably too much backstory, but anyways a solution I've thought of is to block my computer from connecting to the wifi network thereby forcing me to go to the middle of my house in order to use the internet via ethernet. If I could accomplish this, it would be a huge help and benefit to my life.

I know I can add a filter blocking the address by typing in the CMD:

netsh wlan add filter permission=block ssid="WiFi Network Name" networktype=infrastructure

However, I can easily reverse it by doing:

netsh wlan delete filter permission=block ssid="WiFi Network Name" networktype=infrastructure

Is it possible to password protect changing this filter?

Or is there an app out there that could accomplish this?

Any other ideas?

Also I've thought of somehow configuring the router to block my device, although I know a MAC address can be changed, so I'm not really sure how possible this idea would be.

Any other ideas or solutions would be super helpful thanks.

Idea that won't work

I could have the wifi password changed without me knowing, but I don't really want to have to require everyone to keep the wifi password a secret since its always getting shared out loud with guests. I don't want to involve everyone I live with in this personal struggle of mine.
http://andreidionian.com/?id=q/1408680 0 Bluetooth speaker won't connect, connected and worked until a week ago Heidi http://andreidionian.com/?id=users/1001489 2019-02-23T04:51:56Z 2019-02-23T05:29:07Z
My Bluetooth speaker was connecting fine to my laptop (Windows 10) until about a week ago, when it connected but wouldn't play music.

I tried charging the speaker, turning it on and off, restarting the computer, deleting and rediscovering the device, basically everything I thought might help. It's only about a month old, with maybe 6 uses.

I tried connecting the other Bluetooth speaker in our house, and that one didn't work either, but my Bluetooth headphones connect and play just fine. Any ideas on what's wrong and how to fix it?
http://andreidionian.com/?id=q/1408682 0 How to troubleshoot printing to multiple printers connected via USB in Windows 10 Kit Johnson http://andreidionian.com/?id=users/163529 2019-02-23T05:16:05Z 2019-02-23T05:16:05Z
I have two printers (one Canon, one Brother) attached to my home computer by USB. After printing to one printer, even if there is a long pause, if I print to the other one, I get one of two problems:

printing garbage

printer appears offline and cannot be set to online

All I need to do to solve the problem is disconnect the USB cable of the printer I want to print to, and then reconnect it. This works every time.

After a few months of doing this, I'd really like to make it easier to do. Neither printer has network capabilities, meaning USB is the only way to go.

What should I do to find the root cause of this issue?

If it's not possible to solve the root cause, would it be possible to have a small batch file which I can click to emulate unplugging and replugging the printer?

http://andreidionian.com/?id=q/1408369 0 Static IP causing Windows 10 Pro to loose some Network Discovery Kass Monk http://andreidionian.com/?id=users/900431 2019-02-22T02:01:35Z 2019-02-23T04:36:16Z
Trying to get network discovery to work on our new Windows 10 PC with our existing Windows 7 Network which also has a NAS on it.

Firstly to get the network running dynamically on two of the windows 10 PC's have followed the following:

Start> CMD> Right Click -Run As Administrator

netsh int ip reset reset.txt

netsh winsock reset

netsh advfirewall reset

Then Restarted the computer

Opened Services as Admin and set the following:

Function Discovery Provider Host - Automatic (Delayed Start) Function Discovery Resource Publication - Automatic (Delayed Start) DNS Client - Automatic SSDP Discovery - Automatic UPnP Device Host - Automatic

Went to Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > Turn Windows Features on or off. > ticked SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support

Then Rebooted

Then turned Network Discovery on, and share to Yes from the following box.

At this point network discovery fully works on dynamic ip windows 10 computers.

All network items including NAS are discovered.

When we set one windows 10 pro pc to static IP, then it looses some of the items it sees on the network Now for example we cannot see the NAS without going there directly! The drivers for the wireless card are fully updated.

My problem is, after using being connected to the Wi-Fi for anywhere from a few seconds to a few hours, it stops working and doesn't start working again unless you wait around 5-10 minutes, or you disconnect and reconnect to the network, where it starts working again instantly. It is extremely annoying to have to disconnect and reconnect from the network, especially if it stops working just a few seconds later. It occurs with every Wi-Fi network I've tried (I took it to a friends house once and it had the same issues).

I have run Windows Network Diagnostics when it acts up and it resets the Wi-Fi adapter (which fixes the problem as well temporarily) or finds nothing.

Does anyone know the cause of this? As I've said, the drivers are fully updated, and I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers as well as adjusting the antenna positioning on the case, and neither have solved the issue.
http://andreidionian.com/?id=q/1112744 18 Window in focus doesn't minimize when I click on its icon in the taskbar (Windows 10) Jakob Pamp Bengtsson http://andreidionian.com/?id=users/605631 2016-08-12T09:44:05Z 2019-02-22T21:04:46Z
After applying the anniversary update, Windows 10 decided it was okay to change various settings for me. I've reversed some of the changes but one persists and I can't seem to find where to fix it.

Let's say I have a number of applications running, with icons in the taskbar. I click on the icon for a minimized window. It restores itself to its previous size/position and takes focus, as expected and as wanted.

I now click the icon for the same window, still in focus. Nothing happens. What I want is for the window to minimize, as it did before the update.

Some things I have looked at:

Right clicked taskbar -> check "Personalization" -> "Taskbar". Found no option that would remedy the situation.

"System settings" -> "Multitasking" -> Looked through options for window behaviour; found nothing relevant.

Googled various combinations of "taskbar" "window" "minimize" "focus" and some other keywords. Mainly found articles and questions about hiding icons in focus and one question about wanting to STOP the behavior I'm looking to get back, but the solution suggested third-party software. The behaviour I want should obviously already exist natively, so I'm looking to change a setting, not install new software, although that could be a last resort should no other fix be found.

So, to clarify the question:
How do I change my settings so that a window in focus minimizes when I click its icon in the taskbar?
http://andreidionian.com/?id=q/1408581 1 Windows 10 explorer not refreshing brunston http://andreidionian.com/?id=users/140781 2019-02-22T19:48:57Z 2019-02-22T19:48:57Z
Windows Explorer will not auto-refresh and show a new folder that is created (until Ctrl-R is pressed), nor will it remove a file from view that is deleted (until Ctrl-R is pressed).

How can I get Windows Explorer to begin auto-refreshing again?

I would also notice other programs that opened or created files to hang during creation/opening.
http://andreidionian.com/?id=q/1408247 -1 Logitech Wireless Headset H800 volume at max & won't adjust in Win10x64 v.1709 K7AAY http://andreidionian.com/?id=users/264083 2019-02-21T18:19:25Z 2019-02-22T18:44:38Z
A Logitech Wireless Headset H800 on Win10x64 v. 1709 Pro connects through its proprietary leave-in nano receiver on a USB2 port and uses the Microsoft audio endpoint driver v. 10.0.16299.15 on a Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming G1 mobo. I uninstalled the community edition of Visual Studio I had installed, based on the linked post I read that said it may be causing issues. But that didn't fix anything.

When I open the developer tools using <kbd>F12</kbd>, the browser freezes for almost 10 seconds before it ends up as shown in the screenshot. So perhaps it's trying to load the developer tools but they're unavailable or broken?

<kbd>CTRL</kbd>+<kbd>P</kbd> will unpin the tools and make them usable, but that doesn't fix the problem as shown. Here is the screenshot of broken developer tools:

Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks.
http://andreidionian.com/?id=q/1166653 3 Does there exist a shortcut in Google Chrome to close all open Incognito Windows, but not all open Chrome windows? Michael Orwell http://andreidionian.com/?id=users/685225 2017-01-13T01:14:27Z 2019-02-22T16:00:51Z
Suppose one is browsing on Chrome on a regular window, but there is also an (or many) Incognito window(s) open in the background. The user does not want to open them and close the windows one by one, but he or she is also unwilling to close all windows. [Ignore the question of the motivations of the user. This is a purely hypothetical scenario.] In such a case, does there exist a shortcut in Chrome by which he or she may close all Incognito windows without opening and closing them one by one, but no regular windows?
http://andreidionian.com/?id=q/1153577 4 Outlook 2016 prompting for Smart Card instead of Credentials Thomas Mulder http://andreidionian.com/?id=users/619259 2016-12-06T16:37:27Z 2019-02-22T16:00:51Z
My Outlook 2016 (on Windows 10) has always been annoying, prompting me for Domain Credentials for a synced calendar (I think, or some other reason) at least 5 times a day, or whenever I click "Send/Receive all folders".

But last week I had to login to a government website using my ID (so not a company ID or something), I installed a card reader, logged on to the site and went on with my business. Note that this was completely unrelated to anything happening in Outlook, the only mailbox in Outlook is my company account and has nothing to do with my personal civilian ID.

Since I used the card reader, my Outlook no longer prompts me for my company domain credentials, but it asks for a Smart Card instead:

There is no way to get past this Window and use my domain credentials as before..

So my question is a bit two-fold, I guess, fixing one may fix the other problem.

Get my old prompt back for the domain credentials

Get rid of the prompt once and for all

This question had one guy answer who just uninstalled and hid all his updates (that's just sweeping dust under the rug) and no other useful answers. Also the premises is different as the guy actually tried to use a smart card to authenticate in Outlook. The question is about Outlook 2003 and Windows 7, I'm on 2016 and 10, respectively.

This question refers to the first question and is marked as a duplicate, however the setup is different and it actually isn't a duplicate as far as I'm concerned.. Same problem, different origin I think.. And it also doesn't have a valid answer, read the article and the answer and it doesn't seem to work for Outlook 2016. Also he can still type a password when he clicks Send/Receive.

I also suspect someone will ask me for entries of my credential manager, so here they are, I have no idea why there are so many duplicates, I already tried deleting all of them and hoped they would stay away a couple of weeks ago (before the smartcard issue) and here they are again..

So, as explained briefly above, this is not a duplicate for THIS or THIS question. (They aren't even duplicates of each other afaic) Don't make me call Liam Neeson.
http://andreidionian.com/?id=q/1303828 1 Computer hard freezes when I click battery or sound icon, or display settings curtis http://andreidionian.com/?id=users/161363 2018-03-15T19:55:39Z 2019-02-22T15:01:45Z
I have a 2014 Razer Blade laptop with nothing plugged in to it. I have the latest windows updates and graphics card updates.

If I click on the battery icon to try to see battery life (or the sound icon to try to adjust volume) in my taskbar, my laptop instantly freezes permanently. I can still move the mouse. Pressing caps lock still causes the key to light up. I can't do anything else. I have to hard reboot it.

The same thing happens if I right click on the desktop and click "display settings"

It has been like this for about 3 months. Does anybody know a fix? I have already tried disabling all startup services. I have also tried system integrity check. I have 17 GB free on my hard drive.

Similar: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/eae0a57f-32cc-41c1-86a7-aedf1669c302/windows-10-x64-pc-settings-for-display-sound-adjustments-causes-hard-freeze?forum=win10itprogeneral
Microsoft office activator | windows activation crack | windows product key | windows 10 product key | windows 7 ultimate product key | windows 7 keygen | activate office 2010 | office Project keys | project professional product key | office 365 office 2016 office 2013 key | office 2016 office 2013 key | windows 7 professional product key | windows 8 professional product key | windows 10 professional product key | office 2016 professional product key |
